The Power of Intention

I will be giving the full update on how we did for the month of July in the next issue of The Winning EDGE. (HINT: We have already passed 75 wins and we have changed our goal to pass 100!)

Here is what some of you intended to win:

Carrie of Address Unknown
What I intend to win this month is what I did win last month. My local mall has a contest every month for so many gift certificates to several different stores. I go faithfully every week and enter. Last month the prize was 16 different gift certificates for $25 each. I told myself I had to win because I have a wedding to go to in August. I would like a new outfit and the entry form had the list of stores which would work for me. Well, I missed a few entries for June as I was on holidays, but on Friday July 13th I got the phone call that I won!  The contest for this month is 14 different stores and the values are $50 each and I intend to win that too!

I totally know what you mean. I knew I was going to win the White Stripes concert tickets, and I did end up winning them. It was very weird. Now I am hoping, no... I know for a fact that I am going to win this huge Justin Timberlake contest where I get nine concert tickets and get to sit in the VIP seats. I think I've sent in at least ten ballots already.

Hope in Gibsons, BC
Last week I was looking at 'alternatives' to take on vacation so that I would be mobile. I was thinking should I get a laptop or a PDA so that I could access my emails from a 'won' vacation I was on? I wanted something 'light' and very portable. Easy to carry on and off the plane and that would do the job. I looked at PDA's at our local London Drug and found one that looked rather interesting, but did not have the cash flow at that moment to purchase it.

So, I put my intention to get one out to the Universe. To have something I could take with me to check my emails when I am away and darn it, today I get an email, in hubby's name, we won a PDA worth over $600!!! It is a Motorola Q. The smallest phone ever too, and it comes with a heap of wonderful features! Motorola says it's the perfect device for conducting business on the move. HECK! I say forget the business on the move. It's a great 'toy' for the vacationing contestor! Don't you love it when the Universe works for you?!

Tips and Tricks

Maggie of Kitchener, ON sent in this tip that prompted me to finally take action on an idea I’ve had for quite awhile.

My best tip is when entering bar and PIN codes get family and friends to help! At least once a week a friend drops off a wrapper or a cap for me. Since I am at home and have more time then they do to enter, they give me their codes. Also check the recycle bins for bar codes and bottle caps!!

What action did I finally take? I went on a PIN code hunt! In the book The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio, Dortha takes Evelyn to the city dump to get “qualies” (Qualifiers such as labels, box tops, UPCs, etc…) I am not that ambitious but every week I pass many product containers with PIN codes on them in blue bins on recycle day and think to myself, “Look at all those winning opportunities just being thrown away!” – I finally went out on three streets (took my daughter out on two – she thought it was fun) and came back with 9 Pepsi PINs and 9 Coke PINs. This may become a regular adventure! Now, let’s see if we win anything!!

Dear Contest Queen,
I just read the question about selling a prize and that triggered my question to you. There are lots of contests where there is a trip as the grand prize and variety of prizes as the secondary prizes. I do not want to win a trip. I would prefer the secondary prizes. If I do happen to win a trip, could I give it away or sell it to someone else?
Nanaimo, BC

Hi Gay,
Read the rules. I have never seen a trip that is transferable. If you win the trip and do not want it, you would likely have to forfeit the prize. They would then draw for another winner. You should ask them for a secondary prize but the decision would be up to the contest management company if they will substitute the prize.

Send me any sweeping or contesting questions you would like answered.

You Can’t Win If You Don’t Enter
