You Can't Win If You Don't Enter

The writing of the American Edition of my book has taken me much longer to write than I originally anticipated. With the publication of the Canadian Edition and more obligations, my writing time became very sporadic. I have decided to take a writing sabbatical and only focus on finishing the book. Remember, the Law of Attraction states you get what you focus on! My writing timeline is as follows: complete writing by July 15th, editing and re-writes by September 1st and printing by October 1st.

I have room for a few more tips, tricks and stories to complete the book. If you have something you think would make a good addition to the American Edition, please email it to me. Also, if you belong to a sweeping club, sell sweeping supplies or run a sweepstakes website and would like to be included, please email me. (All contributors published receive a free autographed copy!)

TurboSweeps is No More

TurboSweeps was an software package created to help contestors track their online entries.  As technology moved forward, TurboSweeps was not maintained or upgraded.  Recently, the site where you could download the software was not renewed.

You're a Winner

Experiences you could never buy are one of the best benefits of having such a fun hobby. Our first submission came from Susan in Thornhill, ON.

I got into contesting last year when your article appeared in the Toronto Star. My husband handed it to me and said, "Why can't you do this?!" I was up to the challenge and haven't looked back! My biggest win was actually for one of my sons. I entered them in the McDonald's In The Line-up contest and my 9 year old son was selected as the Ontario winner! We were flown to Dallas and given the first-class treatment by McDonald's. They covered our meals, and gave us some spending money as well. My son, along with the other provincial winners, were on the ice during the starting line-up of the 2006-2007 All-Star Game. My son got to stand in between his idols Alexander Ovechkin and Daniel Briere during the singing of the National Anthems. They met all the players including Sidney Crosby. The players were amazing with the kids. McDonald's even arranged for the Stanley Cup to be on the ice just for the 12 selected kids. This is an experience that I'm sure my son will never forget.  Thanks again Carolyn for introducing me to this wonderful hobby!!!

The second submission is from Nicole in Chelmsford, ON.

I was reading your newsletter on Monday, May 7th and I took note and wrote down your saying "I am Lucky, I am a Winner, I am a Grand Prize Magnet" on a sticky. I placed it beside my computer to bring luck. I also did your book for a Christmas gift.

Around 6:30 p.m. that night, I got THE call and it was Angela from Treehouse TV. I was so excited since I was a potential winner of the grand prize - A Pontiac Montana SV6 loaded with toys! So amazing it's a $30,000 prize!! I wanted to put the phone down and start screaming but my husband kept on trying to make me calm down.

I am going to Pontiac Mills in Oshawa this Saturday and they are going to do a presentation at 11:00 a.m. and they will have Dora and Sponge Bob present for this event. I know you live in Oshawa and I would love to meet you! How's your schedule? Please let me know. Thanks Carolyn!

I went down and met Nicole on Saturday morning. It was so fun being part of such an exciting day for Nicole and her family. She was very generous and not only treated her family to lunch afterward but also included my family as well.

The only disappointing part was, once we had a chance to talk over lunch we realized if we had thought about it the day before, Nicole and her husband could have stayed the weekend with us allowing Nicole to attending The Winner’s Circle contest club meeting the following day. I guess she just has to win another prize in the Toronto area!

I know many people want to know what their odds are when entering. At the presentation of the car I had a chance to briefly speak with the Treehouse TV representative. There were over 148,000 entries into this promotion.

Tips and Tricks

My husband Craig came across this really neat blog describing How to Find a Four-Leaf Clover. Since it is so long, it has been posted as a PDF on my website. If you wish to read the blog, click here.

Hi there,
Just want to quickly ask what will happen to all my contest entries (100+) now that I'm moving from Alberta to Quebec? Have you heard anything in regards to such a situation?
Sincerely,
Louise
Calgary AB

Hi Louise,
This is the first question in three years I have not had an immediate answer to. I turned to two industry experts and received two different answers. One stated you would be ineligible and the other the entries sent in while you were an Alberta resident would be valid. My advice is to focus on winning, keep entering and the prizes will come. Remember to visit the Resources page on my website to check out all the websites featuring contests open to Quebec residents.
GOOD LUCK,
Carolyn
