I love to teach people how to win. One way to increase your odds of winning is to enter promotions that have more hurdles obstacles or barriers to entry. The more of those there are, the better your chance of winning.
For example, skill-based contests. Do you have a talent, skill or hobby that you could use to win?
- Are you crafty in the kitchen?
- Can you capture the moment with your camera?
- Are you a whiz with words?
If so, you can enter cooking, photography or essay contests.
What if you don’t feel talented? Did you know you could learn to be good at anything you wish? In this case: photography.
I had the pleasure of being introduced to Darlene and Rob of Digital Photo Mentor. Their site is for people just like me.
Three years ago I cashed in all my SDM loyalty points to buy my first a DSLR camera at a great price on a Black Friday sale. I used it a few times and now it sits in the camera box. I use my phone because it’s easier. I know if I learned to use my camera properly I would use it more. Not only for trips or family gatherings but, to enter better images into photo contests.
I am going to start by taking their FREE course Photography Basics for Beginners, and you can too.
In the meantime, you can also enter to win an amazing photography prize package, including a private session with Darlene herself! The prize package includes:
- Carbon fiber travel tripod from K&F Concept
- Large DSLR travel backpack – from ThinkTank
- Sling bag for mirrorless camera – from ThinkTank
- Memory card wallet (SD/CF cards) – from ThinkTank
- Photo editing software – Luminar by Skylum
- Online portfolio/gallery – SmugMug
- One-hour private coaching call with Darlene – DPM
