The Cynical Winner: The Definitive Guide To Winning Radio Contests

The Cynical Winner: The Definitive Guide To Winning Radio ContestsWhat is amazing to me is the fact I discuss radio contests in my book and I only wrote five pages. Mike Kelly’s book The Cynical Winner: The Definitive Guide To Winning Radio Contests is 160 pages long.

What did I miss?!

NOTE: I interviewed the author before my copy arrived from Amazon. I’ll be doing a proper book review at a later date.

Watch the video below to learn about Mike, entering radio contests and a few tips not in the book!

And if you can’t wait for my review, order his book here:

I have not had as much luck as Mike calling in to win, but I have won a couple of trips over the years, including a 2-week tour of Europe.

What was the biggest thing you won from a radio contest?

In the last 6 years I have won 5 weekend or fly away trips from radio contests. The nicest one was a trip I just got back from a couple weeks ago. The package was a trip for 4 to a Florida resort, which included: airfare, rental car, tickets to Clearwater Aquarium, and 5 days/4 nights at the TradeWinds Resort. One piece of advice I can give is to know how often you can win with each individual station. The worst feeling is to win a grand prize and find out you are ineligible because you won a movie 26 days earlier ( speaking from experience).

About 25 years ago I won a trip from Toronto’s Q 107 to England to see the Prince’s Trust Rock Concert. Since I won the grand prize, I was allowed to bring a guest, and we had tickets on the QE2 for the way there and a flight (one of the last ones!) home on the Concorde. This is the prize that got me entering radio contests, and I do well with it to this day. Just last Dec. I won again from the Q, a $500 cash prize for identifying a Christmas carol with a 3 second clip (Brenda Lee – Rocking around the Christmas Tree). Since I won, I attended their on-air Christmas Party, which I took my 13 yr.-old daughter to, and she won the big door prize, a combination sound system, including CD player, turntable, radio, speakers and more, totalling over $500! I am a huge fan of radio contests, since I listen t radio all the time, and win an avwerage of 1 prize per month from the various stations I listen to. Love your emails! Cheers! Dorothy ( I would love to share more details with you about my radio winnings, but don’t feel comfortable doing so on this format. If you want to hear more, please don’t hesitate to email me privately)

The biggest prize I’ve won from a radio contest was a $3500 voucher to fly anywhere.

I won $1000 for Beat the Bank. I was so nervous I stopped at vault 5. Vault 6 was $1300 and it busted at the next vault so I did well. Really amazed I got through and that I was the correct caller. Very exhilarating

I haven’t won big from Radio call in, but this summer I have a family of 6 and from one station I won a family 4-pack of tickets to a local Amusement park, then 2 weeks later before we went, I won a pair of tickets from a radio online entry I put in at a different station before I won the others, so six total, which is how many we needed. This amusement park has free drinks, sunscreen, and parking, so I just had to pay for the gas to get there and food for the day.
