Can Men Enter ‘Women’s’ Contests?

I feel silly entering the “mom” sweepstakes and wonder if I’m disqualified for being a male. Just wondering if new and/or single dads have a shot at these things 🙂

Absolutely! Marketers are smart enough to know that some entrants will fall outside of their target market.

Just as you never know who loves to fish, camp or play football. Yes, those are traditionally seen as male activities, women love them too. The converse it true when entering contests. For example:

You never know who wants to win diapers. A new mom, a gay adoptive dad, or a grandmother who babysits.

You don’t know who wants to win a new handbag or perfume. A single woman who has just started to date, or a guy who wants it for a Mother’s Day gift.

You don’t know who wants to win make-up. A teenage girl, a divorced mom who needs a pick-me-up, an actor who needs it for a play, or a guy who likes to wear it!

My answer is, if you want to win a prize, for whatever reason, enter!

Do you enter contests for prizes you want regardless of marketing focus?

Hi Carolyn! I enter any contest that has a prize I want! One of my fave newsletter subscriptions came from entering a father contest. I love the tips and advice from it even though I’m a mother. As a single mom, I take any good advice I get!
