Melissa wrote to me via a Facebook message. She had some concerns and questions about her hobby. During our back and forth she stated:
I’ve never been good with entering all the daily sweeps. I only enter everyday if it’s something I really want to win and that’s usually 2-12 things a month and I never win it. I just hop on my iPad click new sweeps and enter. Than I’ll go to my list of the couple of daily sweeps I have and enter. I typically enter one time and done. I enter blogs, Facebook sweeps, website sweeps, Instagram, Twitter etc. only for what I want, but I never win what I want. Took 6 years to win a TV and my first tablet. Those are the only 2 electronics wins I’ve had. I had 2 cash wins – Miller lite I entered daily and won in 2014 and HR block this year both were $1000. Usually my wins are things for the kids DVDs, toys, etc. or beauty wins . I’m always in awe when people are winning TVs, Xboxes, grills, etc. all the time. I did finally win my 1st grill after 6 years of year on an Instant Win Game I played daily. Hubby wants me to win an iPad, Xbox etc I tell him you can’t it’s impossible I enter and enter and nothing. Right now I feel like I’m not finding an adequate amount of sweeps to fulfill this hobby, I don’t even know what I’m doing in regards to sweeps anymore. I mean I used to but since September I’ve lost my way.
I knew what she was doing wrong, but I wanted more information to be sure. So I asked, “What site do you use to find sweepstakes?”
I use Online-Sweepstakes, Contest Girl, I Love Giveaways, Sweep Sheet, I Win Contests plus Lucky Sweeps. I’ve been sweeping since 2010 when my daughter was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition and it was a way to pass time at her appointments.
Jimminy Crickets! That’s too many aggregates! No one can keep it all straight. I recommend only one or two as many have overlaps that confuse many people.
She also complained was she wasn’t winning big like other sweepers.
I think my biggest thing is no wins over $4K. I did win a sweep Tom* shared the 1000 tablet giveaway. And I guess my other biggest concern is finding low entry sweeps. I try to find my own. I have Google alert set up, but I don’t think it’s set up correctly. Lately I just feel like what am I doing isn’t working. And I never win electronics or cash or gift cards. I don’t know, it’s my luck I guess.
*Tom is the owner of iWINContests.
It is definitely her strategy. When I enter every day I win consistently.
OK. I enter daily, but never win consistently.
You may be entering daily, but you also need an entry system. If you are not winning consistently, that is what you are doing wrong. You need to create a system where you enter the most important sweeps first and work your way down. It’s what I outline in my book. If you have your system down pat it should only take you 1-2 hours per day. (I also outline more winning tips in How Do I Win Big?)
You also need to stay out of the Great Time Suck. It is very easy to get on Facebook and instead of entering sweepstakes, troll all your friend’s timelines, watch funny videos, read memes and articles, etc. It’s why I recommend you leave social sweeps until the end. After you have entered for what you really want to win first.
If you are frustrated with only winning low value sweepstakes, is to test, experiment and try. What do I mean by that? This is a hobby that is suppose to be fun. So play with it. Try new things. Test out theories. See what happens.
For a few months Melissa should try 2 things:
- only focusing on entries for prizes with a minimum prize value of $100, or even $500.
- join a site that specializes in low odds sweepstakes such as Sweeties Sweeps or iWINContests.
If nothing changes, then nothing changes, so try something different.
There is a reason I have an entire chapter on Attracting Luck in my book. You have to think you are a winner before you are. You have to enter with the intention of winning. Do I win every contest I enter? No I do not, but I always enter with the expectation I am going to win.
Do you have a contest entry system?
